The Springfield-Greene County Library District recently added a permanent sculpture as part of the Sculpture Walk Springfield. The piece, titled Vistalation by local artist Michael Stelzer, has been placed in front of the Hatch Auditorium at the Library Center. The sculpture was made possible by a generous gift from the Hatch Foundation. The piece is 7’ x 7’ x 12’h and made of powder-coated mild steel and 304 stainless.
Sculpture Walk Springfield’s Executive Director Bridget Bechtel shared, “Public art belongs wherever people gather. Over the last few years, Sculpture Walk SGF has continued to expand what our program can be for the community, and we’re excited to share the latest iteration of that growth through this installation at the Library.“
The Artist Michael Stelzer added, “My hope is that this art sets the tone for what awaits visitors as they enter the new auditorium…a most generous gift from The Hatch Foundation and the curating efforts of Sculpture Walk Springfield. If it makes people wonder, engage and smile…mission accomplished!”
