Republic Branch Library Ribbon Cutting and More on June 1, 2026

The Springfield-Greene County Library District will cut the ribbon on the new Republic Branch Library with a celebration on Monday, June 1. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at 921 N. Lindsey Ave. The event marks the kickoff of the Summer Reading Program for all ages at all library locations. This year’s theme is Unearth a Story.
Special events at the Republic Library include:
· 10 a.m. Live music with local musicians Mark Crabtree and Dan Lockmiller
· 10:30 a.m. Maker space demonstration
· 11:30 a.m. Ceremony and ribbon cutting
· Noon Hot dogs provided by Arvest Bank
· 1 p.m. History of Republic by the Republic Historical Society
· 2 p.m. Maker space demonstration
· 3:30 p.m. Performance by Alina Celeste & Mi Amigo Hamlet performance
· 4:30 p.m. Ice cream on the patio provided by Nabholz Construction
Scavenger hunts and other self-directed activities will be in the Youth Services department throughout the day.
Republic Branch Library Branch Manager Tysha Shay said, ‘We’re thrilled to launch our Summer Reading Program alongside the ribbon cutting for our new facility. Since opening our doors in February, we’ve been incredibly encouraged by the community’s enthusiastic response. We invite everyone to visit this summer and discover all the library has to offer.”
