The Springfield-Greene County Library District is hosting a food drive from Monday, Dec. 1, to Sunday, Dec. 14. The District is partnering with the Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) to help our community after the recent interruption in SNAP benefits and ongoing food insecurity. Collection boxes are available at all 10 library branches across Greene County.
OACAC will distribute the collected items at their main facility, area pantries and Head Start locations. Suggested donations include shelf-stable, non-expired food items, including:
· Canned meats
· "Just add water" soup, mac and cheese or pancake mixes
· Ready-to-eat canned pastas and stews (pop-top cans preferred)
· Tuna packets
· Oatmeal packets
· Peanut butter
· Unopened or individually wrapped snacks, cereals and pastas
Online donations can be made on the OACAC website, oac.ac. For more information about OACAC, call 417-862-4314.
