Summer Reading Program Activities for Kids
Adventure Begins at Your Library! Complete at least 8 activities—you can choose from our list or create your own! Feel free to repeat any of theses activities and adapt them to fit your needs.

Activities
Take a selfie in front of a mural around town.
Pick three colors you might find in nature, then take a walk and try to find them.
What is your favorite color? Draw something using only shades of that color.
Read a book with a color in the title.
Check out a cookbook and choose a new recipe to prepare together.
Use Your Next Read on the library website to get personalized book suggestions from your librarians.
Draw a picture of one of your favorite memories.
Read a book about a character who doesn't look like you or live like you.
Try a new type of art. You might find an idea at one of the Library's programs this summer!
Read a book about an artist or a type of art. Try some of the Library’s booklists to get some ideas!
After reading a chapter book, draw a picture of how you think the main character looks.
Work with a friend to create a collaborative art piece.
Create your own!
Go for a walk to find objects for a "nature collage."
Attend a library program.
Look around you right now! How many different colors can you name?

Check out an audiobook or use one of the library apps (Hoopla or Libby) to read or listen to a book.
