Ace the ACT! Test Prep Series for Teens - Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library
6:30-8:30 p.m. for teens entering grades 10-12.
Having anxiety about taking the ACT? During this four-week series, learn realistic tips to prep efficiently for the test, targeted strategies for increasing your score and customized recommendations that address your weaknesses. Instructor Bill Mimikos has valuable experience preparing inner city students for test success. Snacks will be provided at the first three sessions, with a celebratory dinner during the final session. Attendance at all four sessions is recommended, but not required. Please note: Students must register and complete a practice test before the first class on July 20. A conference room has been reserved for registrants to take the mandatory pre-test at their convenience between 5-9 p.m. on July 12 and 13. Space is limited. Registration is full for this series. Registration starts July 1; call 616-0703

Dog Days of Summer - Fair Grove Branch Library
11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the community room for grades 2-12.
Can dogs read? How do dogs help people and how do we help them? Find out with our friends from Pet Therapy of the Ozarks, Springfield Missouri Dog Training Club and some special four-legged guests. You can also help our furry friends at the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri by making a dog toy to donate, and make one for your pet, too! Materials will be provided.

Scratch Art Part I: Step 1, create a colorful art piece. Step 2, cover it all in black paint. Step 3, scratch away some of the black paint to create a beautiful design. We'll do steps 1-2 at this session. Return August 18 for Step 3, after we've allowed ample time for the paint to dry If it's Friday night, there's something going on at the Station just for teens. Get in gear for back to school as we watch "Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life," rated PG, and make locker d├ęcor. You can also bring your notebooks, pencils and folders to decorate with washi tape. Materials will be provided. Registration starts August 1; call 865-1340
