"Black Hawk Down," rated R for intense, realistic, graphic war violence and language. Based on a true story, Black Hawk Down, tells the harrowing account of a group of elite U.S. soldiers in the Battle of Mogadishu. Theses soldiers were sent into Somalia in October 1993 as part of a U.N. peasekeeping operation with a mission to abduct several top Lieutenants there. This carefully planned mission went horribly wrong and ended up becoming the longest sustained ground battle involving U.S. soldiers since the Vietnam War. In what was expected to be an in-and-out mission, instead involved twl UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters being shot down, the deaths of 18 Americans, 73 wounded and hundreds of Somalians dead.
