    Our interactive storytimes introduce young children to books, reading and language with stories, songs and activities. Parents learn fun ways to build the early literacy skills their children need to learn to read.

  • Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library - Ace the ACT! Test Prep Series for Teens
    6:30-8:30 p.m. for teens entering grades 10-12.
    Having anxiety about taking the ACT? During this four-week series, learn realistic tips to prep efficiently for the test, targeted strategies for increasing your score and customized recommendations that address your weaknesses. Instructor Bill Mimikos has valuable experience preparing inner city students for test success. Snacks will be provided at the first three sessions, with a celebratory dinner during the final session. Attendance at all four sessions is recommended, but not required. Please note: Students must register and complete a practice test before the first class on July 20. A conference room has been reserved for registrants to take the mandatory pre-test at their convenience between 5-9 p.m. on July 12 and 13. Space is limited. Registration is full for this series. Registration starts July 1; call 616-0703.

    Brush up on existing mouse and keyboard skills and learn the basics of word processing, including simple formatting, saving and printing documents. Prerequisites: Experience using keyboard and mouse. Registration starts June 1; call 883-1974.

    1-3 p.m. in the community room for adults.
    You can choose what you want to learn and go at your own speed with our self-paced tutorials. We provide the computer and you select from a wide variety of lessons designed specifically for individual learning. Topics include basic skills, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Gmail, Photoshop and more. Both interactive and video tutorials are available to fit your learning style. We also offer computer-instructed keyboarding lessons to help you learn to type or improve your typing skills. Registration starts June 1; call 883-1974.
