PAGE/SHELVER 
A part-time page position is available at the Library Center and will be posted until the application deadline of Jan. 16. The job is scheduled for approximately 16-20 hours per week and pays $7.32 per hour.

Essential Functions
- Efficient sorting, filing and shelving of library materials alphabetically and numerically.
- Retrieval of periodicals, newspapers, microfilm and other library materials as requested.
- Daily, routine lifting and carrying of library books and materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Timeliness: Since employees in this position work with other staff and provide assistance to the general public who patronize the Library, Page/Shelvers must be punctual and timely in arriving to work and completing tasks. A Page/Shelver must also be capable of working all of the hours in their assigned shift.
- Ability to work with others and the general public: Page/Shelver jobs are interdependent and mutually dependent regarding other job categories. Page/Shelvers also have some degree of direct contact with Library patrons. Therefore, it is essential that individuals who work in this position have the ability to work and interact in a cooperative, pleasant, and constructive manner with others.
Education/Experience
- High school graduate or currently enrolled in high school or G.E.D. program.
- No experience is required, knowledge of Dewey decimal system and experience with alpha and numeric filing preferred.
Skills/Job Knowledge
- Ability to sort material alphabetically and numerically.
- Ability to understand verbal or written instructions.
- Ability to work with accuracy, consistency, and dependability while maintaining a fast pace during times of high volume.
Responsibilities
- Routine re-shelving of returned library materials.
- Retrieve materials for patrons upon request.
- Maintain library materials in proper alphabetical and numerical order.
- Assist staff with transfer of material and equipment as directed.
Contact
- Routine contact with library patrons and staff.
Supervision
- Supervised by Library Page Supervisor or Circulation Manager.
Physical Demands
- Routinely performs bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching from floor level to 6 feet in height.
- Handles library materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Routinely pushes or pulls library carts for shelving.
- Performs daily tasks requiring mobility, coordination and endurance.
Working Environment
- Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general library environment.
Miscellaneous Requirements
- Must be able to pass a security background check.
