Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a list of National Cemeteries?

The Department of Veterans Affairs maintains a list of all National Cemeteries on their web site.

A list of National Cemeteries and information on criteria for internments is in the information file "Springfield National Cemetery" in the Local History and Genealogy Department at the Library Center. Another resource is the Springfield National Cemetery grave locator, published by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which lists burials in the National Cemetery in Springfield.

The Library also owns the book "American Military Cemeteries: a comprehensive, illustrated guide to the hallowed grounds of the United States, including cemeteries overseas" by Dean W. Holt.
