Frequently Asked Questions

Where is "Bloody Bridge" in Greene County?

This bridge is no longer in existence. It was located on Highway 266, west of Springfield near Farm Road 59. The bridge crossed over Pickering Creek and was nicknamed "bloody bridge" because of the large number of accidents that occurred on it. A library volunteer remembers that a "honky-tonk" named "The Bloody Bucket" was located in the nearby area, which may account for the nickname of the bridge.
